Inspired by her travels and nature, Christy LeA Payne created CLP Jewelry. All of CLP Jewelry is a perfect mix of rustic and elegant designs. We caught up with Christy to learn more about her passion for jewelry and design, all the treasures you can find at her store, and what she loves about Denver.

Can you tell me about your background and how your journey has led you to where you are today?

I took a variety of art-based classes in college trying to decide what I wanted to do with my hands. jewelry was the medium I was drawn to time & time again.

What three words best describe your jewelry designs?

Rustic, timeless, and everyday.

Where do you find your inspiration for your jewelry designs?

Travel and time in nature.

Do you have a favorite piece?

It’s always changing but my go-to is  “baby medicine bag” hand-cut leather with a diamond, hand laced and strung on a delicate gold chain.

You recently moved into a beautiful location, what else can we find at CLP?

All of my favorite things from other designers I adore.  Mixed media wall art, buttery soft leather totes, cashmere sweaters, sweats made in LA, kaftans that will take you from pool to cocktails,  lotions & potions, incense, pottery from Morocco, and handmade cards.

What is your favorite thing about designing your own jewelry and owning your own store?

The freedom to do what I love & surround myself with people who “get it”.

Do you have any career highlights you’d like to share with us?

I recently had a plug in Forbes and I made it through covid  

What is the biggest lesson you have learned in your career?

Taking a moment to pause & think before reacting.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

This too shall pass.

Redesigning and flipping homes.

What is your favorite part about living in Denver?

The weather and all four seasons.

What is your favorite restaurant in Denver?

This is so hard! My husband is an amazing chef so I get to eat great food at home often… when he takes the night off, we like Q-House, Walters 303, and Hop Alley.

What brings you joy?

Travel, the gift of time & experiencing something new with Zach, my husband.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Hike, design, and dream.

Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy, The Weekend, Fleetwood Mac, and Brothers Osborne.

What’s the one thing that never goes out of style?

Cowboy boots.
